Where To Sea Fish Uk

WHERE TO SEA FISH UK
Just because so many anglers take to the still-waters and rivers of the UK, there is still a massive amount of productive coastline that can make for wonderful sea fishing trips. In fact, nowhere in the UK is one more than a few hours from world-class ocean fishing. This includes using charter boats or angling from piers, but surf-fishing is also an often overlooked and exciting sport. Even better, it's the least expensive option, by far. Use some common sense, and you'll never want for surf-fishing action in the shoals.
The variety of species you can land from the beach is tremendous. Some of the most important include:
Bream, Flounder, Scad, Pollock, Pout, Mackerel, Cod, Whiting, Dogfish, Dab Sea Bass, Sole, Shore Rockling
In addition to all the very edible fish that are available from the sea, fishing on the coast also includes crabs, eel and other crustaceans.
Among the most common baits that are commonly used are several sea worms and crabs, including lugworms, ragworms, peeler crabs, sand eels, squid, mackerel razor fish and hermit crabs. These are available at most bait shops and some fishmongers. One may also catch their own baits with lines or nets. Lures are also commonly used in conjunction with live or dead bait, such as the “feathered” lures preferred by many sea bass anglers.
Sea fishing tackle differs from freshwater tackle by being somewhat larger and sturdier, in general. Rigs can be purchased from shops or home-made with anywhere between one and four lines or “snoods” per rig. The most commonly used type is known as a “flapper rig” that allows for shorter casts and a wider bait presentation. The shorter and more streamlined the rig, the further you'll be able to cast.
The rods most commonly used for sea fishing are also larger and have less flexibility than their freshwater counterparts. Most often, they are able to be broken down into two or three parts that can be assembled on the beach for easy transport. Reels differ little from the freshwater types and late-models are typically made from modern composite materials.
Where to sea fish Uk consulting tide tables is one way to make your sea fishing trip a productive one, since many of the species that come into the shore to feed do so in a predictable manner with each incoming tide. Such charts are widely available, as are local catch reports, many of which are available online.
The shore angler’s self-adopted code of ethics requires that anglers take responsibility for their waste and actions at the beach. Ocean fishing differs from lake and river fishing in that you will undoubtedly meet many people who are not anglers. As such, a successful trip is similar to a camping adventure – you should strive to leave the shore just as you found it.
