Fishing In Surrey

Fishing In Surrey
Whether you prefer to stand up to your waist in a rapidly flowing river fighting to bag a pugilistic fish, or sit serenely beside a glistening lake waiting for a tug, fishing in Surrey has plenty to offer you.
For instance, take a look at the gorgeous Coltsford Mill Trout Fishery in Oxted: this 12 acre estate contains 4 beautiful acres of trout fishing water made up of two lakes fed by the lovely River Eden (Mill Pool and Willow Pool). The river also feeds the two cascade pools, and you’ll find plenty of hard-fighting rainbows and browns ranging in size from modest two pounders right up to heavyweight doubles (an as yet unbroken club record of 22 lbs still stands).
If the prospect of some of the most superb coarse and carp fishing in the UK pushes your buttons, you definitely ought to be fishing in Surrey. Situated in ravishing Surrey countryside, Priory Farm Fishing Lakes are a mere twenty miles away from London and sport three glimmering lakes teeming with bream, carp, crucians, perch, roach, rudd and tench. There’s also a neat little moat pond for anyone who’d prefer a change from Priory Farm’s larger watery residents.
Most people associate the River Thames with London, but you can have access to a generous stretch of it, free of charge, when you go fishing in Surrey.
Outstanding river coarse fishing is available from the Thames at Laleham, where the river is approximately 50 metres wide and 5 – 8 metres deep. A good tip is to concentrate on the area where Ferry Lane splits away Laleham Green and Thames Side, where you can confidently expect to bag an impressive haul of carp, chub, dace, perch and roach.
The Albury Estate Fisheries in the beautiful Tillingbourne Valley in Guilford are regularly stocked with premium quality fish reared on the estate’s very own trout farm. Comprising four waters in all – Vale End, Powder Mills, Weston and Park Fisheries – you’ll find hard-fighting rainbow trout available all the year round (day membership is available for brown trout and stream fishing).
Beaver Farm Fishery in Lingfield offers a superb 9 lake complex plus a stretch of Eden Brook, where you’ll be able to fish specimen carp catfish, common and crucian carp, bream, perch, roach, rudd, tench and specimen pike. Open every day from 7.00am to 7.00 pm (except 25th – 26th December), this lovely fishery is enchantingly picturesque and a source of fantastic fishing.
Or you might want to try your hand at the spellbindingly beautiful Bury Hill Fisheries in the heart of the infamous Surrey Hills near Dorking. These four magnificent coarse fishing lakes are part of a 200 year old estate and you can expect to find monster carp weighing in at 40lbs, pike at 30 lbs, zander in double figures and bulging match nets heavily laden with bream, crucian, roach, rudd, perch and tench.
The largest of the waters is the 200 year old tree-lined beauty known as Old Bury Lake which has a fantastic head of specimen carp and is famous for its huge catches of specimen tench and bream.
